Junior Moot Competition 2026
Registrations are now open for the 2026 Junior Moot Competition. This competition provides students with the opportunity to develop their legal research, written advocacy, and oral advocacy skills in a supportive and competitive environment.Participants will work in teams to prepare written submissions and present oral arguments before a panel of judges across multiple rounds, culminating in a grand final held in the Supreme Court of Queensland.Whether you are looking to build on your mooting experience or take the next step in your advocacy journey, the Junior Moot is an excellent opportunity to refine your skills and gain practical experience.
The Junior Moot is QUTLS’ most sought-after mooting competition , drawing law students from all years eager to sharpen their advocacy skills and gain invaluable competition experience. Proudly sponsored by Corrs Chambers Westgarth, this prestigious competition offers participants the opportunity to engage with leading practitioners while developing their advocacy in a real-world context.
More challenging than the First-Year Moot but still accessible to all, the Junior Moot is the perfect launchpad for mastering legal argumentation and preparing for high-level moots. With fierce competition and a supportive atmosphere, this is your chance to test your skills, build confidence, and make your mark in the world of mooting. Will you rise to the challenge?

Equity tickets are available for those who have experienced financial hardship and would like to attend but are unable to purchase a ticket at full price. If this applies to you, we encourage you to apply.
Please note that applications are assessed on a case-by-case basis by the QUTLS Management Committee, and we are unable to guarantee an equity ticket to every applicant.

First Year Moot Finals 2026
Registration is now open to attend the 2026 first year moot grand final! For the grand final, the first-year competitors will be presenting their legal arguments to a panel of judges to see which team will be crowned winner. Come and support our first-year mooters as they test their skills for a last time in the supreme court!
After the grand final, we’ll be heading to the Jimmy’s on the Mall (on Queen Street Mall) to celebrate 🎉 If you’d like to join us for dinner, please select 'yes' in Rubric. Please note that this is a group reservation only, and attendees will cover their own meals.

Join the QUT Law Society at Welcome Week 2026!
We’ll be hosting stalls from 11am to 2pm on Monday and Wednesday during Welcome Week at QUT Gardens Point, where students can meet the team, learn about what’s coming up this year, and explore the benefits of becoming a QUTLS member.
